The weather has cooled and the snowflakes are flying. This should bring the delight and beauty of the holidays.  For some, it just brings more financial burden and emotional pain. There are many families working hard but struggling to keep food on the table. With your help, we can share our joy with those in need and make their holidays brighter.

Great music is always a part of these holidays and so members of this community have joined together as the Good Tidings choir with this event for 29 years to begin the season and help their neighbors. The members have ranged from ages 15 to 93 and take their vision to raise funds for the Geauga Hunger Task Force seriously. Hope is our mission.

The Good Tidings Benefit Choir will be performing Christmas selections including a portion of GF Handel’s “Messiah”. As a tradition, concert goers will be invited to join in the Hallelujah Chorus.  Also performing will be Pilgrim Brass from Pilgrim Christian in Chardon, Spirit Bound, a talented quartet on Saturday and Selah, a strong women’s ensemble from Kirtland’s Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Sunday. The performances will be December 1st at 7:00 pm and December 2nd at 3:00 pm at Notre Dame Chapel, located at 13000 Auburn Road in Munson, Ohio, home of the Sisters of Notre Dame. There is no charge for the performances but a goodwill offering will be taken. Reservations are not necessary.

The choir is under the direction of Robert Boles, Aubrey Woods, Joy Leirer, and accompanied by Joy Leirer. The fine Messiah soloists this season will be Robert Boles, Sr. Emilia Castelletti, Chris Condon, Laura Christian, Sara Hamrick, William Herman, Geoff Juhasz, Sylvia Jurcak, Stormy McClellan, Charles Moosbrugger, Katie Paskey, and Aubrey Woods. Additional instrumentals will be added by Katlin and Charles Klein (strings), Rick Tate (trumpet), MaryAnn Ratchko de Gamez (flute) and other wonderful musicians from the area.

The Geauga Hunger Task Force is a volunteer organization established in 1977 whose mission is to ensure that no resident of Geauga County goes hungry.  This is accomplished by seven food pantries located throughout the county that provide emergency food to people in need. See also http://www.geaugahungertaskforce.org/.   In 2017, the Geauga Hunger Task Force pantries provided over 480,000 meals. In 2018 the need has increased by 5%. The Task Force is supported throughout the year by generous food and monetary donations from the community but the holidays are always a bigger challenge. Please consider attending this wonderful event and extending your neighbors a loving hand.
