The Good Tiding Benefit Choir invites you to listen for a cause. This all volunteer ecumenical choir formed 29 years ago to help the local food banks through the work of the Geauga Hunger Task Force (GHTF). The Choir will continue their legacy of raising spirits and funds by performing the Easter sections of GF Handel’s “Messiah.” To enhance the understanding of the Easter story, a digital photos presentation of treasured art will also be presented during the music. There will also be guest performances at the beginning of each benefit from Sounds of Little River Dulcimers on March 18th and Spirit Bound on March 25th. The two performances will be Sundays, March 18th and March25th at 3 pm at Notre Dame Chapel, 13000 Auburn Road in Munson. There is no charge or reservations for the performances but a goodwill offering will be taken. All attendees will also be invited to join in the Hallelujah chorus.
“We mimic the composer G. F. Handel who used his “Messiah” to raise funds for the needy in his lifetime. He built orphanages, hospitals, and helped the poor with concerts in the cities of Europe,” said Sue Juhasz, Project Coordinator. “Although it is sad that we continue to see increases in need, it is wonderful that this area continues to produce such a talented and committed people ready to help their community. In 2017, the local food banks were able to provide over 475,000 meals, supported the Home Delivered Meals program for those under 60 and disabled as well as NextStep from this community’s support.”
The choir is under the direction of Robert Boles and accompanied by Joy Leirer. The program will include Mary Ann Ratchko-Gamez on flute and Rick Tate on trumpet. There are solos by Robert Boles, Laura Christian, Sara Hamrick, Sylvia Jurcak, Patsy Orosz, Brenda Moosbrugger, Charles Moosbrugger, Joe Waid, and Aubrey Woods.
